Michelle Zuluaga, an activist, is constantly advocating for her community. She worked hard to educate and train many Latino-led organizations throughout the state, focusing on Latinx mobilization. Michelle used a solutions-oriented approach that included text banking, canvassing, and literature drops. She was also instrumental in developing a voter engagement campaign that contributed to the increase in Latinx voters.

“I am a first-generation Latinx woman in the US. I am the girl with the ’golden ticket,’ says Zuluaga, “because I am a US citizen, so I wanted to use that ‘golden ticket’ to help my people. Our community is growing, and more and more Latinos are becoming eligible to vote. Latinos are a decisive factor because we are young and are just becoming involved with the political process. I do outreach to ensure we are part of the solution and are civically active.”

Michelle is currently the Civic Participation Manager for the Latino Community Fund.
