HISTORY

Original WoCI 2019 Thought Leaders

Through a competitive process, 15 women were chosen to shape the vision, and mission and lead the work of the Women of Color (WOC) Initiative. These women are called THOUGHT LEADERS because they are the informed opinion leaders and the go-to people in their social justice field. They are trusted women who move and inspire people with innovative ideas; turn ideas into reality, and care deeply about their community and our state. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE

Origins of the Women of Color Survey

In 2019, the WoCI created the Conversations and Connections: Share. Learn. Grow. Program, which consisted of a survey and listening sessions with women across Georgia. This survey was the first of its type conducted in Georgia. The results identified several policy areas of concern such as Healthcare Costs and Services, Economics and Employment Practices, and Education. The information gathered was then distributed so community leaders could better understand the needs of Women of Color in their community to adapt their policies, initiatives, and programs to serve their members better.

Leadership Development

WoCI has provided leadership development for Women of Color in their communities, training programs, and leadership opportunities within the organization. We worked with enhancing women's skills and giving them information that they could use to enhance the quality of their life and that of their families.
